HASS AVOCADO

Harvest Family Farms

It was first grown and sold by Southern California mail carrier and amateurhorticulturist Rudolph Hass, who also gave it his name.

Description

The Hass avocado is a large-sized fruit weighing 200-300 grams. When ripe, the skin becomes a dark purplish-black and yields to gentle pressure. When ready to serve, it becomes white-green in the middle part of the inner fruit.

Color

Tumbled leathery fairly thick skin that turns near black when fully mature. The flesh closest to the skin is a lush colored pale lime green and as it nears the central pit it develops a rich creamy yellow tone and softer, oil rich texture. Hass avocado’s flavor reflects its texture – creamy and smooth with a nutty and sweet finish.
